The Unlucky Owl

One day my husband and I were driving along the highway near Sacramento and we saw an owl lying and shaking by the side of the road. We stopped and took a look to see if it was still alive.

It was, so we wrapped it up with a towel and brought it to an animal hospital nearby. The animal doctor told us that it was too late to save the owl and they wanted to put it to sleep.

The animal doctor also told us that it would cost us $62 because we could not prove that the owl did not belong to us. So, we paid it and we were somewhat relieved. My husband later said that money is not that big a deal as long as we could help someone or something.
