My name is Alberto. I was born in El Tecuán, municipality of the Penjamillo, Michoacán, Mexico. Where my family had grown and worked there. I am single.
In my family there are 6 members more I have had my mother and father also I have had two sisters and four brothers. My mother and father got married in 1965. Their names are Otilia and Alberto Ortega, how old is my family? My family is 43 years old. All members of my family were immigrated in different year because in my country the economic situation was terrible now this situation is more comfortable for families in Mexico because there are more jobs for the families.
Now I am studying English in ESL program, I need more English for my objectives in this wonderful country and the life for my family is good because whole family have worked in different areas.
My second brother his name is Ernesto, he have worked in the factory where he has put labels on cardboard boxes. He is got married with his wife Martina. She works in the Rainin company for long time also they have 3 children, one daughter and two sons. They have lived in Tracy, California.
My sister Maria Del Carmen is got married two time with first her husband, she have had one sons, now she is got married again with her husband Juan Quintero and they have had two children more Eduardo so he is other member their family. Her husband made a small company for cutting the trees and she takes care her children. They have lived in Riverbank, California now.
My other brother Guillermo is got married with his wife Maria Magdalena in this matrimony there are two children, one son and one daughter and he is working at Construction Company in different places the California, and she takes care the children, now they are living in Oakland, California.
My sister Maria Guadalupe is got married with her husband Marcos Garcia, also she works in Clothing Store and he works in other company to cut trees but they has two wonderful daughter and they live in Riverbank, California.
My brother Pablo is got married with his wife Gabriela, and then they have two children, one son and one daughter, he works Construction Company in different places the California, and he sometime works with my brother-in-law Juan Quintero in cutting the trees. His wife does not work and she takes care her children now they live in Salida, California.
Before whole family was living in El Tecuán, Michoacán, Mexico where we had cows, horses and we grew the crop if as sorghum, wheat, beans and corn. Corn is main crop for food in Mexico.

What Happen on Independence Day in the United States? …

On July 4, 1776 the United States of America became in an independent country; the leaders signed the declaration of independence from England also Independence Day is national holiday day but the States offices closed, banks, school, post offices and some stores are closed in this day too but special states workers 911, polices, emergency hospital and fire workers will be working on July 4th.
Is very important for people are remembering this day it is birthday of the U.S. but this day is free for a lot people in their jobs then that the big department stores have had big sale.
In the some streets the United States, or in some cities; there are parades as in Alameda, Piedmont, San Francisco bay area and other cities around the United States but I think so that the most important event is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; where were leaders signed the document the independency U.S. another important thing happen in this day is the people have carried the America flag.
The people celebrate with firecracker but it is illegal in the United States, maybe cities have given the special permission or maybe the government closed their eyes on independence day because this event happen only once time every year.
Some people have visit their families and friend at home in other cities around the Unites States; where the people have barbecues and drinking alcohol in different presentations as beers, wines, tequilas, whiskies and another presentation, and meanly in beers that is more popular beverage around the world.
Other people go to the parks and beaches where they have swum and played different games with their friends and relatives…

Studying English is a Good Experience for me …

My mane is Alberto Ortega Servin, and then Studying English is a good experience for me because I have never thought in this language. In 2000 I was coming to this county and I went to the Neighborhood Center Adult School, where I was the best experience for me to learning English and I came back my country, where I tried to learning English but in my country the people have not been interesting in this language and I forgot it.
Also in this time, I was working for 3 month in Mi Rancho Tortillas for 8 hours a day I left the company out 11:30 am and I had enough time to arrive at school. But now I have more interest to studying English because I have many problems in my life.
I have many tools to study English, the best way is go to school but there are other ways as watch English movies, listen to the radio, talk to English with speaking people and read English newspaper when I do not understand the word I will use dictionary And to practice in different pages internet read and write other kind exercises.
I have needed to work for pay my rent or other necessities as medicine, doctor and cable, utilities and other things but the most important thing is to study English and I will hope the teacher accepting me in his/her class.

I am an ESL student at Neighborhood Center Adult School. I have been at school for more that one year. I think, we have a few problems at our school the students don’t have air-conditioning in many rooms sometimes the weather is cold or hot.

If the school should look for a solution, there are many ways for resolving this problem such putting more portable fans and heater in the rooms. Another solution would be to install air conditioning.

Long Day at School…

I take my English class at school from 8:30 to 11:30. After class I have my lunch for about 15 minutes. For more of one year I had stayed in room 101 where I read a newspaper from my country from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. I only read important news but I know the life from my country because I had live there for long time.
I have to take another class in the school from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a teacher Richard Blum, this class is more difficult also the teacher had said every student needs to write 10 stories for a diploma for this class.
I am having a very busy day at school.

My Good Study Habit…

My first good study habit is to watch TV in English with English subtitles this is for me it is more important habit also when have been movies I practices my reading, and listening English.
In a lot movies there are more a new vocabulary then I see movies also I had been written new words on a pace a paper.
But my surprise is it when I had watched TV at the movies all time to speak English basic so this English is very difficult for me to listen it.
I am thinking than the most important good study habit is to go to the school every day for taking the classes and making the homework and to study the classes after it.
Why it is the most impotent good study habit? Because when the people had received classes or instruction for long period it is most possible to learn, to speak, to write, to read and understand English.
I think these are good ways for practice English very day.

When I was Visiting the Museum...

On August 6, 2008, I went to visit the Museum with the teacher Linda Newman and my classmates. She explained that the exposition, it was about of the years 50’s and 60’s. In this tour in the museum, I saw “the show Birth of the cool” I saw old furniture.
I saw paintings that were large hard, edge and had lots of color and these kinds of the paintings are abstract.
The most interesting part of this explosion was the furniture in especially the chairs because I think that architects design this kind of chair also they had thought to building comfortable chair for the people. Other comfortable furniture is cushion. It is a strange material for me but it is very comfortable for sitting down in this cushion.
I think this cushion, architects made it also they thought in the student because when I was student and sit down in the hallway or aisle seat, it is very hard but with this material it is very comfortable…this furniture is the coolest…

Why I Came to this Country…

My name is Alberto and I am came this country in November 2002, I was came in Mexico alone because my whole family have been living in the United States for a long time.
Now I live in Oakland, with my father, mother, sister, with her two daughters and my brother-in-law.
Also I am studying English in Neighborhood Center Adult School for about 1 year ago or more.
Sometime to study English is frustrated for me but I understand if I do not use it is too easy to forget this language. But I am looking for a job where I am practicing my English every day.
In conclusion, I came to this country alone then my whole family lives here for long time; also I was living alone in my country and I decided to come to the United States.

Hi, teacher my name is Alberto I am studying English in the room 101 now I speak about of the weather. I love the days sunny and cool, but sometime I love the day with enough hot because it is very good for to go a beach where I like to swimming and walking on the beach. But I want to love the weather in Oakland because in this city only rarely the weather is too hot in this time I like to go to the Alameda Beach where, there are beautiful environment also many families enjoy this place. I feel very good in this weather.
When I was live in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, also in this city the weather was very good but now, then weather is too bad because global warning. It feel to be strong power, because in this area of “richer families” cut of the trees every day but now these families had said every day that they have saved to Mexico from Institutional Revolutionary Party but this families is very corrupt. Theses factors that to influence about global warning now to threat of the future form children around of world. That is one part global warning also to this family people call talamotes to them in Uruapan Michoacán.
I come back to speak about weather also I love the days when it is rain that is good for to watch TV or to go to restaurant where to drink coffer or soda but sometimes I hate theses day because there, weather is too bad because to rain for one weak until two weeks but it is very well for environment of this area that it needs more water every day for the people bomb or Demographic explosion…

There is too much garbage in the World…

Because in the poor nations every day people throw the garbage on the hillsides where they burn. Sometimes people in the world and in the Unites States every day people had said that the United States is of mainly responsible for pollution. But we save of the world and we need to look at the actions of the poor nations. The burning of the garbage is partly responsible for pollution in the world so people need to stop it to save the world.
The problem in the poor nations is garbage because the people in the poor nations need to recycle all kinds of garbage for save of the world. The poor nations don’t burn more garbage on the hillsides and this is good for development in the world. If poor countries stopping to burn garbage and this action save of the world. The poor nations recycle the garbage so electronic, plastic bottles, plastic bags and other things.
Garbage’s came all drift of the petroleum then that the poor countries save petroleum every day and this action help to save for the global warning.
All nations and mainly the poor nations recycle all kind the garbage so it is cheaper for them and they save for oil. But people in the Unites States always had said this country is responsible for all happen in the word. Now it is time that the leaders this country so they have thought of other manner or responsible manner. Because there are many factors or other leaders from others countries that if they are responsible for this kind action.
Global warning is not game how to say other leader others countries but if we had said it is game so we will have lost of the world tomorrow.
It will help people with more jobs in these countries also they will help to stop the global warning and to save of the oil that now it very expansive. If the poor nation recycle all products come of the petroleum then they save energy, money and to save of the world of Global Warning.

The electronics could do the life more easy to the people but it is necessary that people will find how recycle it because in the past the people didn’t worry about it. how people recycle it so world was more safety in the past already people burnt less petroleum and now the United States have recycled everything but the poor countries will need to find the solution for this situation then the poor countries are the easiest to throw garbage in the hillside and they have threw the garage in the hillside and it is easiest for all poor countries but it is the most danger for world. So we need to worry about how the poor countries recycle it but recycle garbage is money and to save petroleum for all countries.
Another situation is it that all the countries can responsible for global warning because the poor counties have sold the petroleum to the richest countries on world but the poor countries have expended the money in salaries them staff or development then this money had came of the sale of oil of the poor countries so the poor countries have said rich countries are responsible for global warming but the poor countries never worry about how recycle all the garbage now they can worry about it.
In the past many poor countries said to lie or to untruth and they didn’t well for development around world but now it is necessary all the people around world to say truth because we need to save of the world. It is necessary that the poor countries would responsible for their behavior because all people had said the Unites States is responsible for these actions. But the electronics have come for the petroleum and all electronics could recyclable and other parts electronics have been coming of the metals and it is possible to recycle it.
In our life every day the electronic are the most important and there are many different kind of electronic around of world but different company had make different kind electronics how: television, computer, laptops, printer, fax machine, telephones, cellular phones VCR, VCD, DVD players and networking equipment and different kind appliances for the home. Now the companies have different programs for recycle electronics in the United States America. But my suggested is it that in every country around of the world and all rich and poor government, that they have been recycling everything. Before I had worked in this project and when I was lived in Mexico and I had worked in the Michoacán University in the laboratory of the chemistry.
This kind of electronic can make our life easier, to comfortable and communicate the faster around of world and the electronic are used by the people every day in different activities how people use it to talk on the cell phone, to talk on phone, to watch TV also people have use of the computer for to move satellites and a lot of machineries move to use for electronic and people have been using of the electronics and it hadn’t exclusive in medicine and sciences. Also for the Scientifics use to the electronic every day and the electronic could make the easier the sciences and other activities our life.
People need to help the world because world need to save because it is our home but all people haven’t been thought of the same way and the people will have needed to more education for save it. Also poor countries will have needed more programs for save it. This is recommendation for save the planet.

This story is true…

When I was live in Mexico so my favorite hobby is went to Movie Theater but I was going a Movie Theater every weekend because my life is alone for different reason: First reason is my Family because they said to the people that I will become in Mexico President so it is no truth because my family have different compromise with the politicians from Mexico but this gangs are very evil people because they are coming every day at United States with promise untrue but when people believe in this kind people then people get to false dream because Mexican people live in the United States so they think best job is in government. This situation is very difficult for me.
` Mexican people are coming for jobs every day but this people came of very poorly areas in Mexico and they have a level low of education, but this situation, so that politician have to knowledge abut it also where it is very easy to trick to the people live in United States. Also the people build their dream as they will become in politician this is their dream for Mexican people. The politicians always are trick a Mexican people and my dream will not become in politician.
Also now I see to movies on TV because my life is a little changed so now I pretend to go Movie Theater because need to see new histories in the Movie Theater so I always pretend to go to Movie Theater but I don’t have enough time to go to Movie Theater also it my favorite hobby but my life is very busy now before my life was very busy but now it is busier because I am studying English and looking for a job.

People voice tell to you that a mountain climber, mountain climber was very desperately for he was conquer of the Aconcagua Mountain so he is beginning his crossing it, before one year of training, but he want to the glory for him only. Then that he was climbing without partners.
He is beginning to climbing and the night is starting and it is later but the night is very darkness and he didn’t ready for camping, but he decides to climb until he goes up of the top the mountain. It grew dark to him; the night fell very heave in the height mountain, there absolutely didn’t see anything. Everything was dark, zero visibility. There wasn’t moon and stars were covering for the clouds. He was climber for one cliff and he was an only 100 meters of the peak or the top mountain.
He was slipping and he was fall for airs. The man fall down was vertiginous speed, and then only he saw of the each mark again more obscure that obscure showed in the dark and he feel terrible also he was thought to kill for gravity him.
He is following to fall down and he was moment distressed and this moment and this moment pass for his mind all kind of the pansies but the pansies were well and worse in his life. He was thought that to go died but nevertheless.
Suddenly he felt a tug very strong then it is the strongest that man felt almost to cut in twice parts and he said “Yes” how all experienced claimer because he put of the stakes from safety with padlocks and once rope was very longer and it tied on his waist.
In this moment was very calm and tranquility also he was fell down in the air but only he could screaming and he said to help me so my God!
From suddenly once voice very strong and too deeply in the sky and it was answering him: what are you doing? My son and he said to save me! My God! Do you believe me that I could save you life? He was answering immediately so of course Lord. The God said to cut rope that it is supporting to you… there are one moment of silences and calm. The man was holding stronger a rope and he was reflection…
The rescue group told that other day they found the clamber and he is falling down in air and he died but man is catching with strongly of the cord, with his hands on the rope…
He was only two meters of the ground or of the soil. And you happen? How many do you trusted of your cord? Why don’t you loose it?

A woman and a man crush of front in their cars. But the hit was very strong, that both cars were destroyed completely. But it is incredible because they were suffering to hurt in this accident. Before the accident, they went out cars.
The woman “Said” it has so this is miracle…my Goodness there were two cars to destroy. She said to see to him, our cars but it is not left anything of them and they said miraculous our bodies had any a scratch. The woman follows to speaking…
This could be once signal of god and we could know and too we are friends and we live together in peace and we will make to love for rest our lives and to rest our days.
And the man answers:
Ooooh if I am agreed with you completely: This could be once signal of god.
The woman follows to talking about accident. She said, and you sight. Here! There is other miracle: My car is completely destroyed but this wine bottle it is not breaking.
The woman follows to speaking and she said it is sure that god wishes then we will drink this wine of bottle and we is celebrate our good lucky.
In that said she was giving wine of bottle the man; the man was shaking again his head in signal that he is agreed. He open and drinking the wine of bottle but he was drinking only half from the bottle and he come back the wine of bottle to the woman.
Woman caught the wine of bottle, but she was immediately to put of cork in the wine bottle and she come back to the men so he is ask question and you, my beloved. Do you drink from wine of bottle? Don’t you celebrate the miracle? And she is answering the man: No, I don’t. I am believe so it is better and I have been waiting for polices.

In El Tecuan, Michoacán, México

Traditional Clothes are making of cotton fabric, these clothes are one pant and shirt of the white color and these clothes is cheaper in Mexico.
During long time, farmers got dressed style of traditional clothes, because the landowner didn’t permit them to use jean. In this time only the landowner got dressed to jeans because they were rich in the town and cities.
The emigrated came towards the United States, they got dressed to wear jeans but when they back came to Mexico, they changed their jean for the style of traditional clothes, where the farmers change your clothe in big cities near their the smallest town. When they arrived from the United States towards their native towns.
My grandfather, grandfather and mother told me; about this situation also farmers didn’t wear jeans in their community only the landowner. The boss said far away of my town because you don’t understand, you couldn’t wear jeans in this town.
Sometime landowner sent to strike or hit to the farmers, when landowners saw to the farmers wear jeans. Now men and women wear jeans because now there are more freedom in Mexico.
Now the laws don’t allow these kind situations because the people are more modern, a lot people go to the school also many people are coming to the Unites States, where people know new cultures.
Before it was impossible because landowner was very strict with the farmer also the Catholic Church helps a landowner because my uncle Fidel Baez said that people went to confession with the bishops or priests. They were revelation the confession secret some times landowner was far away the people. In this time the life very difficult for the poor families in Mexico. Now there is more freedom in the life of the farmer because they are more independents their jobs also in the form to dress or to clothes.

On February 20, 2008 we saw a total eclipse of the Moon. It could be seen in Mexico, America, Africa and Europe.

I remember different stories about that the lunar eclipse that my grandfathers, uncles, friends, grandmother, mother, father, and seniors told me. They said that lunar eclipses are bad for animals and for women, too.

It is bad women who are pregnant because it is possible their fetus They are bad for women who are pregnant because it is possible their fetus, they will become deformed. I think it is possible because when I studied at the University my genetics teacher explained about mutations in plants and animals.

Many mutations are good for evolution. Lunar eclipses emit gamma rays and ultraviolet rays of different wavelengths. Some times these mutations are good. Others are bad for animals and plants.
Many cultures spoke about the lunar eclipse as the death of the moon, earth and sun, but other many cultures celebrate this phenomenon. For a long time, many cultures thought that one goddess was fighting with another goddess.

But in El Tecuan, Michoacán, Mexico, when my family spoke about this phenomenon, they believed it influenced our lives. For example people put a red bow on the tails of cows, mares, and goats. They did this because they thought that lunar eclipses effect pregnant animals. It is possible for the animal to abort or to suffer a loss of the babies.

Also people put bows on fruit trees and other crops because they believe the influence of eclipses are dangerous to their crops because there will be a reduction in their harvest.

Solar eclipses are worse than the lunar eclipses because radiations are more powerful. I will explain this topic on another occasion.

My childhood...

Write about something you remember from your childhood. It can be a memory of good experience or a difficult experience write between a half page a full page:
When I was child I did different things because my life was very busy. My best experience was when I went to school because I liked to go to school. Then teacher was teaching different lesson every day, but I learned to read when I was 7 years old maybe, I had a bad teacher or I wasn’t a good student. I had a bad memory but I was remembering when I changed the teacher, I learned more quickly to read.
My bad experience was when the teacher wasn’t arriving at my Town El Tecuan, Michoacán, Mexico. It was a situation repeated every Monday. Also students were sad, when a teacher didn’t teach the class.
For a long time, families spoke about this problem but the government never stopped this situation.
Other bad experience when the teacher hit student on hand stay up in from of classroom. When student were behaving now the teachers don’t hit student also It is again of the laws.

My name is Alberto Ortega Servin. I was born in El Tecuan, Michoacán, México. I was born on July 22, 1968. I attended elementary School partly in El Tecuan, and another part in San Jose. These small towns are near Penjamillo, Michoacán. During the years from 1975 to 1981, I studied at middle & high school in Penjamillo, Michoacan, Mexico. From 1981 to 1984 I attended high school in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico. in the years 1984 to 1986.

After high school I attended Michoacán University.. On April 30, 1994 I graduated with a degree in Agriculture. My graduation was the most important goal of my life because when I was student school wasn’t easy for me. But I graduated in the Facultad Agrobiología Presidente “Juarez.” It is a division of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo.

On September 1, 1994 I my carreer as a Laboratory Instructor in the Eduardo Ruiz High School of the Michoacán University in the Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico. I am experienced in preparing and maintaining laboratory tools and testing equipment in the laboratory. I am skilled in chemistry and science laboratory instruction and safety in the laboratory. I am detail oriented, organized and efficient in completing tasks in the laboratory. I am reliable, dependable and an honest worker.

Since November 16, 2003 I have been studying English and computer skill including Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet and ESL Courses at the Neighborhood Centers Adult School in Oakland, CA.

I also studied at the English Center for International Women, Mills College and Intensive English Program that included English, computer and career preparation and Office Service Workplace Preparedness and Low Beginning Level proficiency English as a Second Language.

I began to work at Metro Furniture in the Oakland, California as an upholsterer and data entry clerk. Now I am studying full time in the ESL Program at Neighborhood Centers Adult School.
